Huawei Pura X Max. The first-ever “wide” foldable smartphone. When unfolded - like an A4 sheet of paper. Launched April 20, 2026 in China. Price from 10,999 CNY ($1,615) to 13,999 CNY ($2,055).
This is not a typical foldable smartphone. Most foldables = tablet when unfolded (Galaxy Z Fold, Pixel Fold). Huawei Pura X Max - sheet of paper. A4 aspect ratio. Ideal for reading, writing, presentations.

Why “wide” is different
Standard foldable is “book fold” - you unfold and get a tablet. Huawei Pura X Max is “wide fold” - you unfold and get an A4 sheet horizontally.
Concrete use cases:
- Reading books / long articles - one A4 screen = like a real page
- Making presentations - screen has slide proportions
- Editing documents - two text columns like on a laptop
- Drawing / writing with M-Pen stylus - A4 sheet like a notebook
Apple still pretends foldable isn’t the future. Everyone waits for their foldable in 2027. Chinese already have it. This time available only in China - but globally next year.
Price vs competition
- Huawei Pura X Max: $1,615 - $2,055
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: $1,800 - $2,200
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,200 - $1,800
Huawei is more expensive than iPhone, but you get two devices in one (phone + quasi-tablet). Plus stylus.
My perspective
Foldables are the future. Apple still pretends they’re not. Everyone’s waiting for their foldable in 2027.
Chinese already have it. And cheaper (vs comparable Galaxy Z Fold 6).
